David Johns, CPA
Graduated from St. Louis University in 1989 with a BSBA degree, emphasis in Accounting, and then received his MBA in 1991. He began his career working for larger accounting firms in the St. Louis area, and eventually partnering with Mark Geoffrey in 2004 to begin their own accounting firm – Geoffrey, Johns & Associates, LLC. David has over 32 years of experience in creating and executing tax strategies to minimize the overall tax liabilities for individuals and closely-held businesses. He has extensive experience dealing with clients in the real estate, construction, manufacturing, medical and agricultural fields. Dave has been active within many community organizations including Habitat for Humanity, Presence – St. Mary’s Hospital Foundation, Kiwanis Club and the Economic Alliance of Kankakee County. In 2022 David and Mark merged their firm with Adam and Matt to form GJM Advisory.
Mark Geoffrey, CPA
Graduated from the University of Missouri in 1990 with a BSBA degree, emphasis in Accounting & Finance. He began his career working for larger accounting firms in the St. Louis area, and eventually partnering with David Johns in 2004 to begin their own accounting firm – Geoffrey, Johns & Associates, LLC. Mark has over 32 years of tax & accounting experience in serving individuals, closely-held businesses and other entities in the service, manufacturing, professional medical groups, transportation and agricultural sectors. He is also active within charitable community organizations including Child Network and Habitat for Humanity. In 2022 Mark and David merged their firm with Adam and Matt to form GJM Advisory.
Matthew Muckerheide, CPA, CMA
Graduated from Northern Illinois University with a degree in Business Management and Economics in 2010. He obtained his MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business in 2017. He comes from a diverse background in corporate (Deloitte and GE Capital) and entrepreneurial roles across finance, accounting, investing, and M&A functions. He has extensive experience managing operating and investing companies across a wide range of industries. In 2022 Matt and Adam partnered to merge with David and Mark to form GJM Advisory. Matt was a college football player at Northern Illinois and enjoys staying active in Chicago, where he lives with his wife. Matt is active with Chicago Hope Academy, where he serves on the young professionals’ board.
Adam McCurdy, CFP
Graduated from Loyola University Chicago with a BA in finance and economics in 2010. He obtained his MBA from University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business in 2017. His entire career has focused on helping clients with their financial aspects, including tax & accounting, investments, retirement planning, estate planning, and private equity. He teaches as adjunct professor at his alma mater, Loyola. In 2022 Adam and Matt partnered to merge with David and Mark to form GJM Advisory. He ran track at Loyola and though he can’t run much anymore, he continues to stay fit with other activities. Besides sports, one of his favorite pastimes is reading.
Mileen Joines, CPA
Graduated from Illinois State University with a double major in Accounting and Business Administration. Her tax preparation career began in 1999 and she worked for Geoffrey Johns & Associates LLC since they began business in 2004. She was in the Fire Service, retiring as a Lieutenant/Paramedic after 31 years of service. She continues to maintain her Paramedic license through private local hospital services besides teaching many in CPR instruction. Mileen is active in the Kankakee County community being on many non-for-profit service Boards over the years including United Way, Harbor House, YWCA, and Zonta Club of Kankakee County, along with being very active in her church. Her career has given her accounting, management and tax experience in Fortune 500 Companies, small business, non-for-profits, and government entities. She lives in Bourbonnais with her husband and has two grown sons and two beautiful granddaughters.
Tracie Saffell, CPA
Graduated from Olivet Nazarene University in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. She went on to pass the CPA exam in 1992 and became a licensed CPA in 2006. From 1992 to 2005, she worked as an internal accountant in the construction industry. In 2005 she joined the staff of Geoffrey, Johns & Associates, LLC and began her public accounting career. She has 30 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping and payroll tax filings.
Austin Ward, CPA
Mark OConnell
Graduated from Governors State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He began his career in accounting in 2015 at Geoffrey, Johns & Associates, LLC. Mark has experience in bookkeeping, payroll, and tax preparation for a wide variety of individual and business clients.
Janice Drew
Graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Through a variety of work environments, she gained many years’ experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and complex payroll preparation. She also performed as Retail Manager, Office Manager, Bookkeeper, Production Supervisor, Tax Preparer, Customer Service Agent, and employee trainer. She is proficient in problem solving and in identifying areas of inefficiency and creating and implementing procedures to improve productivity.
Lisa Holt
After working for a local business for 10 years, she then spent many years fundraising and volunteering at her children’s schools. She has been very active as a volunteer wish granter with Make A Wish Illinois since 2017, which serves Kankakee and surrounding counties.
Graduated from State University of New York at Potsdam with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Accounting. He transitioned to public accounting in 2016. Balancing full-time work, he earned a Master of Science in Accounting in 2017. Austin serves the financial needs of individuals, small business owners, high-net-worth clients, and those in the realms of trust and estate. His industry focus spans construction, real estate, professional services, and medical fields. He is actively engaged with the State CPA Society, AGC, and the Childhood Cancer Society. He’s a fitness enthusiast and sports lover, particularly passionate about baseball, MMA, hockey, and soccer.
